The ASW-SWC project, sanctioned in 2019 to replace ageing Abhay-class corvettes, aims to build eight vessels by GRSE and CSL for coastal defence. The first ship Arnala, was delivered in December 2023, and the second, Androth, on 13 September 2025. These ships strengthen anti-submarine warfare, enhance Indian Ocean security, and highlight India’s indigenous shipbuilding under Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
