Then came Sultan Murad IV of the Ottoman Empire, a ruler so extreme he made coffee punishable by death! Disguised as a commoner, he would roam the streets, personally executing anyone caught sipping the forbidden brew. But did that stop people? Not a chance! The more rulers fought against coffee, the more people wanted it.

Meanwhile, coffee had reached Europe, where it faced one final test. Religious leaders called it "Satan’s Drink" and pressured Pope Clement VIII to ban it. Would he cave to the pressure and outlaw coffee forever? Or would one sip change the course of history?
