Using Glass Joe as an example. You need to do 20 punches and then you can do a counterpunch or late punch and earn your first star. After that then you do 8 punches then do a star potential punch to get another star. There are random stars that you have a chance to get, but you must be holding a star in order to have a chance to get a random star. If a fighter doesn't have the number of punches to get a star listed in his information, then the star is guaranteed for every star potential punch you do. There are other ways to get stars than the ones listed here, I just wanted to show most of them.
