Описание к видео Lord Narasimha maha mantra at the White House 🙏 As part of the

Many years ago I found a recording of Shivaram Swami singing these slokas, in this order, followed by the much longer Narasimha Kavacha. I spent my brahmacarini years singing these and the kavacha. It has kept me safe in precarious times. We are grateful for your Super Thanks as it helps this channel grow. Workshops: www.patreon.com/krishnakirtanmusic

I have never found these slokas written in this particular order, but I am sure that Sivaram Swami would be able to give a concise precedent for their inclusion and order. I have found and compiled the verses of which this compilation consists. I realize now that I have made errors or omissions*. Please forgive these mistakes. Thank goodness bhakti is the great minimizer of errors. If there is a discrepancy between my pronunciation and the mantras below, choose the text over me. I am grateful to Shivaram Swami for his beautiful rendition.

The first is the Narasimha maha mantra.

Sri Nrsimha, jay Nrsimha, jay jay Nrsimha….

ugram viram maha-vishnum
jvalantam sarvato mukham
nrisimham bhishanam bhadram
mrityur mrityum namamy aham

"I bow down to Lord Narasimha who is ferocious and heroic like Lord Vishnu. He is burning from every side. He is terrific, auspicious and the death of death personified."

It is stated in Shastra that this mantra is the essence of all kavacha mantras, or mantras meant for wearing in a kavacha (capsule). The mantra is often written on a small piece of bark, such as from the botch tree. Then it is sealed in the capsule with a tulasi leaf or even flower petals that have been offered to the deity of Lord Narasimha. After worshiping the deity of Lord Narasimha with sixteen upacharas or items of worship, the pujari or priest performs a ritual called prana-pratistha: he calls the Lord to reside in the kavacha. He then worships the kavacha. Then it has full protective power. Men wear the kavacha around the neck or on the upper right arm, while women wear it around the neck or on the upper left arm. The Kavacha may be worn in all circumstances, at any time, or in any place.

Śrimad Bhagavatam Canto 7 Chapter 10 Text 10

ॐ नमो भगवते तुभ्यं पुरुषाय महात्मने ।
हरयेऽद्भ‍ुतसिंहाय ब्रह्मणे परमात्मने ॥ १० ॥

oṁ namo bhagavate tubhyaṁ
puruṣāya mahātmane
haraye ’dbhuta-siṁhāya
brahmaṇe paramātmane
om — O my Lord, O Supreme Personality of Godhead; namaḥ — I offer my respectful obeisances; bhagavate — unto the Supreme Person; tubhyam — unto You; puruṣāya — unto the Supreme Person; mahā-ātmane — unto the Supreme Soul, or the Supersoul; haraye — unto the Lord, who vanquishes all the miseries of devotees; adbhuta-siṁhāya — unto Your wonderful lionlike form as Nṛsiṁhadeva; brahmaṇe — unto the Supreme Brahman; parama-ātmane — unto the Supreme Soul.

Translation

O my Lord, full of six opulences, O Supreme Person! O Supreme Soul, killer of all miseries! O Supreme Person in the form of a wonderful lion and man, let me offer my respectful obeisances unto You.

Purport by AC Bhaktivedanta Swami
In the previous verse Prahlāda Mahārāja has explained that a devotee can achieve the platform of bhagavattva, being as good as the Supreme Person, but this does not mean that the devotee loses his position as a servant. A pure servant of the Lord, although as opulent as the Lord, is still meant to offer respectful obeisances to the Lord in service. Prahlāda Mahārāja was engaged in pacifying the Lord, and therefore he did not consider himself equal to the Lord...

Sri Nrsimhadeva mantra

in his commentary on the First Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (SB 1.1.1), Śrīdhara Svāmī describes Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva in this way:

“Let me offer my obeisances unto Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva, who is always enlightening Prahlāda Mahārāja within his heart and who always kills the nescience that attacks the devotees. His mercy is distributed like moonshine, and His face is like that of a lion. Let me offer my obeisances unto Him again and again.”

sri nrisimha jaya nrisimha
jaya jaya nrisimha
prahladesha jaya padma
mukha-padma-bringa

"All glories to Nrisimhadeva, who is the Lord of Prahlada Maharaja and, like the honey bee, is always engaged in beholding the lotus-like face of the goddess of fortune."

Om shanti shanti shanti om
Om peace peace peace
