American artist Jeff Koons is renowned for his work that deals with popular culture and his sculptures that feature commonplace items, such as balloon animals made of stainless steel with mirror-finish surfaces. Both his hometown of York, Pennsylvania, and New York City are where he resides and works. Koons works have fetched high prices, with at least two of them setting auction records for works by living artists: Balloon Dog (Orange) in 2013 sold for US$58.4 million, and Rabbit in 2019 fetched US$91.1 million.
