Taker hit Spike with the Last Ride on the garbage can to retain the title. A week later, Taker faced Jeff Hardy. Taker dodged Jeff’s jump outside. Taker hit Jeff with the Last Ride to retain the title. On Smackdown, Taker faced Matt Hardy, who attacked him from behind. Taker hit Matt with the Last Ride to retain the title. Next week, Taker faced Tajiri. Taker went for the Last Ride, Tajiri spit him in the face with the mist and hit him with the Garbage Can. Then Taker tapped him out to retain the title. A week later, Taker faced Big Show, where Taker tapped out Show to retain the title. A month later, Taker faced Maven. The Rock hit Taker with a chair, hit him with the Rock Bottom and Maven pinned him to win the title.
