Javed Akhtar spent a considerable time at his relatives' house in Lucknow & Aligarh before Javed's father Jan Nisar Akhtar took him to Bhopal. After college Javed Akhtar's destiny brought him to Bombay where he worked as a clapper boy in the Bollywood movies. Javed Akhtar spent 5 years struggling in Bollywood before getting a break as a scriptwriter/dialogue writer with Salim Khan and forming the hit combination of Salim-Javed.
