Australian Federal Election Results, 1901-2019

Описание к видео Australian Federal Election Results, 1901-2019

After many years of prodding it is done. Behold, the all new UPDATED version of my previous election video! Like before, this video is simply a visual summary of every federal election in Australian history. Apologies for the delay, but the presentation had to be done from scratch because the previous file was accidentally deleted.

Most of the information is self-explanatory. You've got the the vote share, swing and seat results for each election. Underneath each party leader's portrait is their name, seat and the State in which their seat was located. Be sure to remember that the number of seats has changed from time to time, particularly when Parliament expanded in 1949 and 1984. Coalition numbers are shown separately to demonstrate the shift in party balance over time.

I've also included some written commentary at the bottom of each slide. Believe me, you'll need it for some of the more peculiar elections! Remember, you may need to pause the video to fully appreciate the information. The most significant change from the previous edition is the inclusion of elections prior to the introduction of preferential voting in 1919. Some portraits have been updated while the formatting has been amended to be (hopefully) more readable. I also took the liberty of removing the bar graph because all it did was clutter the screen.

Fair warning not to accept the data on some of those early elections as gospel. There was often very little or conflicting information about early party affiliation and vote shares. Often, the numbers I used will simply reflect the methodology of the source I chose. Even though I did my own research to verify most of the information, I seldom changed a figure or seat count (though there were a few cases of this). As a general rule, I tried to stick with David Barry's data (except for elections prior to 1910 where Adam Carr was more helpful).

Finally, if anyone notices any errors or has any questions feel free to post a comment! I do so enjoy listening to your suggestions. Thanks for watching everyone! Give this video a like if you enjoyed it!
