Before Fame: He was briefly employed at a Harley Davidson shop while producing artwork as a painter, photographer, sculptor, and video artist. He made his debut in the 1997 film Mimic.

Trivia: He played Lewis Payne in Robert Redford's 2011 film The Conspirator, which was about the Lincoln assassination.

Family Life: He was in a relationship with supermodel Helena Christensen from 1998 to 2003. They had a son named Mingus Lucien together in 1999. He'd later begin a relationship with actress Diane Kruger, they had a child in f 2018.
