The Saturn handles these mechanics cleanly, offering stable performance even during hectic sequences under the rim. Steals, rebounds and contact animations generally register well, and the game maintains fast pacing throughout a match. The controls remain straightforward and responsive, allowing players to move fluidly through the typical sequence of shoves, turbo bursts and sudden breakaways that define the series.

Visually, the Saturn version benefits from improved color depth and smoother animation compared to earlier home ports, but it also adopts a notable design choice: the player sprites are significantly larger than in the arcade and 16-bit editions.
