The Mahayuti alliance seems all set for comfortable victory in Maharashtra as the alliance is leading on at least 2019 seats as the counting proceeds. The JMM-led INDIA bloc also ahead of BJP-led NDA in Jharkhand.
Among the alliance partners, the BJP is leading on Maharashtra in 127 seats and on 26 seats in Jharkhand, according to Election Commission of India numbers.
The 2024 Maharashtra election has seen fierce competition between the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance and the Mahayuti alliance, with both sides aiming to secure a majority. Early numbers indicate a tight race, with each coalition gaining significant support across the state. Who will win the final race?
The counting for the 288 assembly states will begin with postal ballots that are reserved for specific groups, including those with disabilities, security personnel, and certain government employees.
Maharashtra, which held single-phase assembly elections for all of its 288 seats on November 20, is all set for the poll results.
With the third largest legislative assembly after Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, the state witnessed a fierce political rumble this year between the two main alliances: the ruling Mahayuti comprising BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP). In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP-Shiv Sena combination won 161 seats. The BJP won 105 seats while Shiv Sena got 56. However, disagreement over power-sharing led to Uddhav walking out of NDA and forming a government with NCP and Congress under the MVA banner.
