Over the past couple of years, you may have noticed more tree trimming crews throughout the BTES service area than normal. This is because we have been aggressively working to increase reliability for our customers by making improvements to our Vegetation Management Program.

As part of these improvements, tree crews have been taking down trees and trimming others that pose a threat to the power lines.

Recent growing seasons have caused many areas to grow beyond what customers were able to maintain safely and effectively. Where we used to be able to use simple trimming methods, we are now taking down or trimming anything near the power lines to enable our customers to resume maintaining their vegetation.

To help keep the power on for you and your neighbors, please don’t plant trees under or near the power lines. Additionally, sometimes vegetation such as trees and vines begin growing voluntarily underneath the power lines or near our equipment. If you see this type of vegetation growth (and can safely do so), please proactively remove this vegetation. We appreciate your help in keeping the areas under and near the power lines clear of excessive vegetation growth.
