A former US ambassador to Israel has told Sky News the world must not forget who started the war in Gaza.

Ahead of Donald Trump's meeting with Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Sky's Wilfred Frost spoke to Jack Lew, who acknowledged there had been a lack of humanitarian aid entering Gaza.

"I don't think starving people is the goal of Israel's policy," he said. "I think denying Hamas access to control and resources is."

It come as Trump says Israel has agreed to the conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in the territory.
