Sapper Knots! In this video, I go over how to tie, purpose, and checkpoints of THE SQUARE KNOT. This is one of the basic knots that you will tie a million times in Sapper school and because of, will never forget.

Purpose: Used to join the ends of two ropes of equal diameter together while under tension.

Checkpoints:
1.) Two interlocking bights
2.) The running ends are on opposite ends of the knot and on the same sides of the standing ends.
3.) Minimum of 4” pigtail after overhand safety.

Hopefully, this video will help prepare you for Sapper school and at least know what to expect. Don’t forget, the easy part is tying the knot, the hard part is memorizing it. So make sure you know those by heart before going. It’ll save you some time. Enjoy and see you next time!
