Key2Ed is an educational consulting company, specializing in personalized consulting services to state and local education agencies, including and providing training in special education meeting facilitation and conflict resolution, as well as educational leadership. Key2Ed was founded by Joyce and Doug Little who designed and developed meeting facilitation for IEP meetings through JDL Associates, their previous company. Key2Ed also provides consulting for districts for finance, instructional leadership, and special education.

Facilitated IEP
The Key2Ed founders also founded JDL Associates, and developed individualized education program (IEP) meeting facilitation in the 90s. Today, Key2Ed provides 3-day training in Conflict Resolution and IEP Meeting Facilitation for school districts throughout the country. These trainings concentrate on providing training to administrators, teachers, and staff. This training concentrates on providing the specific tools and techniques for IEP meeting participants to improve positive communication, reduce conflict, and focus the meeting on the needs of the child.

Participants learn to:

Guide IEP teams to agree on appropriate, compliant, and effective IEPs.
Channel communication to building mutual understanding based on respect.
Create agreements based on full participation from all members.
Generate informed discussions.
Prevent, reduce, and resolve conflict.

Evaluation Conference: A Process for Positive and Successful Discussions
A One-Day Workshop for Administrators and Principals
Administrators and principals need communication tools and techniques to create positive dialogue to improve teacher and staff performance in these highly politically charged and demanding times.

This workshop provides discussion tools and specific communication techniques for improving instruction and creating a positive environment in which to dialogue about strategies for teaching and learning.


Participants learn to:

Collaborate to define instructional strategies
Create a shared vision for students' educational plans
Build agreements through open communication and reflective listening
Review student data for effective planning
Create action plans and implement effective follow-through for instructional planning

This workshop was created at the urging of superintendents and administrators who are responsible for teacher and staff evaluation meetings, and who felt that they simply did not possess the skills to make these conferences positive, effective, and meaningful. Evaluation conferences are key to improving instructional performance to effect student gains.
