CRUISE 5 WITH THOMAS CHENKHUMBA CHIBADE

Thomas Chenkhumba Chibademost popular musicians from Malawi talks about his rise to fame as a musician. He never went far with school, and was pushed into business, made his first guitar from a used gallon after working in a pepper field harvesting pepper. He paired up with two other friends and set up a small band performing at Milepa Trading centre, Jenala and Mayaka markets in Zomba. Through these performances a certain Mr Chikwatu spotted him and sponsored him to record one song in a studio. He went to Blantyre where Ralph Ching’amba of Pro Sounds studios recorded a song for him. He later recorded more songs to make his first album which was an instant hit.
He has been off the music scene for a while but says he’s still in the game and is currently recording new songs.
