Today we're replacing a steering gear (rack and pinion) on a 2019 Chevy Bolt EV. This is a general overview of a "how to" to remove the steering gear from the drivers side wheel well, WITHOUT completely dropping the entire cradle from the car or going to the dealership. SAVE UP TO $2500

Required Tools

Safety glasses
Two-Three jack stands of at least 2 tons each
Two high quality jacks, which you can accurately control how quickly they lower things; you'll need to slowly and controllably lower the sub frame
1/2" Impact gun or ratchet
1/2" 18mm and 19mm deep well sockets
1/2" 21mm socket
3/8" Impact gun or ratchet
3/8" 12mm deep well socket
3/8" 7mm, 10mm
3/8" 15mm socket, with approximately 2ft of 3/8 extensions
10mm wrench
18mm open-ended wrench
Torx T15 bit
6mm Allen key
Small, large or medium flat head screw drivers
1 plank of wood to support the motor with
