The row over North Sea oil exploration for the UK economy and the climate

Weeks away from a global summit and the UK is embroiled in a row over exploration across Scotland for Oil and Gas.

The new prospective agreement between the Scottish National Party and the Scottish Green Party has sparked an impetus in resolving the situation, as the politics of oil compared to COP26 aspirations are not being seen as coherent polices.

Conservative MP for Banff and Buchan, David Duguid, said the planned exploration has "been appraised and explored. The reserves available to us from the oil field are already factored into our [the government's] net-zero objectives."
