Join host Carlo Campagnoli as he welcomes Fulvio Domini, a Professor at Brown University in the Department of Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences. In this talk, Fulvio explores the rapid advancements in VR and XR technologies and their potential to replicate real-life visual experiences.

While high-resolution immersive displays offer exciting alternatives for entertainment and hold significant societal implications, misconceptions about their impact on perception persist. Fulvio presents two compelling case studies that reveal how realistic simulations can lead to systematic biases in observers' perceptions and actions.

Discover how these biases, rooted in current theories of 3D perception, can inform improvements in immersive technology. Learn how understanding visual features can bridge the gap between vision and action, enhancing user experiences in virtual environments.

Fulvio Domini holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Trieste, Italy. His research focuses on how the human visual system processes 3D information for effective interactions with our surroundings. With ongoing funding from the National Science Foundation, Fulvio combines computational methods and behavioural studies to uncover the visual elements essential for navigating our world.
