Actress Lisa Bonet was thrust into the spotlight as part of the cast of the hit ‘80s situation comedy The Cosby Show. Her portrayal of free-spirited teen Denise Huxtable stood out from the other Cosby Show kids, and three years later she became the focus of the show’s spinoff, A Different World, centered on Denise’s adventures at her parents’ fictional alma mater, Hillman College. But after spending her wonder years under prime-time television’s microscope, Lisa was still searching for herself. Her quest was punctuated by moments that read as acts of rebellion: the blood-soaked sex scene in her feature film debut Angel Heart, appearing topless in Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine and eloping with rock musician Lenny Kravitz at the age of 20 — all within the same year.
