Rare and obscure Bach Praeludium and Fughetta in G BWV 902a on harpsichord

Описание к видео Rare and obscure Bach Praeludium and Fughetta in G BWV 902a on harpsichord

This one is a real gem - a JS Bach Praeludium (prelude) (BWV 902a) in a figurative style similar to some of the early versions of those used in Well Tempered Clavier Book 1. The material is fairly slight but the harmonies verge on the eccentric. Surely if Bach had revisited it, he would have expanded the piece and replaced the repeated notes and chords with motivic development. This one I had never seen before in my life last year when I collected the complete keyboard works of Bach (mostly Henle Verlag urtext edition). In one copyist manuscript it is paired with an early version of the G major fugue from Well Tempered Clavier Book 2. Thus it is one of three preludes paired with that particular fughetta (I recorded another of those praeludiums in G two weeks ago). The fugue itself is much simpler than the version in WTC (itself one of the loosest of the set) sharing the same chordal style of the prelude here. Let me know what you think.
