Video Description:
I placed the first livestock order for the Clownfish Harem Tank, and that gave me 10 days to get everything ready. I've had the lights off during the lengthy cycle to avoid any nuisance algae growth, but with the clean up crew on its way, I need some algae. Not only that, but I also bought a sand sifting goby, and for you beginners out there, gobies are known jumpers. So that means I need to build a mesh screen lid to prevent any accidental deaths.

First up is water testing. The tank has been running high nitrates and phosphates. I've been able to control the phosphates with a small amount of gfo, and the nitrates have slowly come down with a wet skim and water changes. But I think it's probably time for one more water change to get those nitrates just where I want them.

Now on to the lights. The Maxspect Razor 150W lights are great, but not quite as powerful as I wanted. My PAR goals for this tank were 350 at the tops of the rock, but after all was said and done, I only got to around 250. That's okay, but I was hoping for more.

I am notorious for killing anemones, and a large factor in that is my love of tinkering. I will not tinker with these LED lights. I'm running a modified AB+ schedule from Ecotech, with a longer ramp in the morning and evening for better viewing.

The mesh screen for this tank was tricky because the lights and the automatic feeder sit on the top of the glass. I bought some zig zag pieces from Red Sea, and tried my best to make a diy mesh screen. It turned out quite wobbly and a bit janky, and there are some significant gaps, but I'm hoping it will be good enough. I'm just not the best at making mesh screens!

Finally the clean. up crew arrived 12 hours late, but I was able to snag some late night footage. A whole bunch of snails, some hermit crabs, a sand sifting goby, and one green bubble tip anemone which allowed me to get the free shipping from Live Aquaria!
