The 171st California State Fair is almost here, and it’s going to be one to remember. Did you know the first State Fair took place back in 1854? This year, from July 11th through the 27th, there are new hours to help everyone beat the heat!

Monday – Thursday: 4pm - 10pm
Friday – Sunday: 10am - 10pm

The fair will open later on weekdays to give you a little more time to cool off. It’s the first time in fair history the hours have changed like this. Only afternoon and evening hours—so we can stay cool and enjoy the fair after the heat of the day. So, whether you’re coming for the rides, the food, or just to enjoy the fair, we’ve got you covered this summer.

To help get the word out about the days and times of the California State Fair, Anusha and Poppy stopped by the print shop at the Sacramento History Museum to help Howard letterpress print a headline stating, “CA STATE FAIR ANNOUNCES MAJOR TIME CHANGE! JULY 11-27 4PM-10PM.” This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press.
