Three primary form factors are common in the industry today: cylindrical cells, pouch cells, and prismatic cells. This video discusses 18650 and 21700 cells and the benefits and downsides of using a commodity cell, including thermal performance and heat distribution. Pouch cells are thin pouches with anode and cathode layers stacked inside the cell and can be easier to incorporate thermal rejection methods. Erik then discusses the differences in cycle life with the different cell types.
