STORYLINE:
Britain's foreign secretary Dominic Raab on Thursday called on Sudan and Ethiopia to ease tensions following recent unrest in the border region.  
On a visit to the Sudanese capital Khartoum, Raab urged the two countries to show restraint.
"Let's not at this precarious moment for the region see an escalation of tension," he said.
He was speaking shortly before flying on to Ethiopia, where he was expected to outline a similar message.
In recent weeks, the Sudanese army has deployed thousands of troops along the Ethiopian border and reclaimed territories controlled by Ethiopian militias.
The Sudanese advances came on the heels of cross-border attacks that killed and wounded many Sudanese troops.
The border tension raised concerns over a potential military conflict between the neighbouring countries.
