DARK DAYS! What Happened To Kyle Singler? Stunted Growth

Today’s feature is one of those players that if what you did in college automatically translated to the NBA, would’ve been a standout on that level just as he was as a Duke Blue Devil, leaving a top 4 scorer in school history. The Kyle Singer Stunted Growth story goes from an ultra hardworking and talented high school basketball player who played himself into being one of the tops in his class, ranked in the top 10 overall and #2 in the state of Oregon behind only future NBA all star Kevin Love, to committing to the most popular program and coach in history before becoming a star player there as well. Things became shaky from the start drafted into a locked out NBA as a second round pick with literally nothing guaranteed, and skills that didn’t quite translate to the NBA and where the game was headed like hoped. Kyle Singler spent 6 years in the league with two different teams and was nothing close to the all American he was at Duke, usually playing the same role of high energy rebounder off the bench, that did all the little things it took to help his team. As time went of it became a production issue for Singler, where at the end of the day he wasn’t hitting the marks expected of the former national champion, and year after year it got worse and worse until his final 12 games with the Oklahoma city Thunder in 2017-18 where he averaged 2 points a game before venturing off to Spain for a year and retiring for personal reasons in 2019. Since his retirement no one is really sure what Kyle Singler has been up to, until he showed up on instagram not even a day ago with some alarming post about him fearing for his life everyday, how he’s been abused, neglected, seen as a problem in his community and misunderstood.
