John O’Keefe’s Arm Injuries Are From an Animal Attack, Not a Car: Defense Witness

Karen Read’s defense called a retired forensic pathologist to the stand Friday in the boyfriend cop murder trial. Dr. Marie Russell testified that after looking at John O’Keefe’s injuries to his arm, she believes he was attacked by large animal. The state however, has argued he was hit by Karen Read’s SUV. Dr. Russell’s testimony highlighted alleged teeth bites and marks.

Karen Read faces several charges including second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating under the influence of alcohol, and leaving the scene of personal injury and death. She was arrested in February of 2022, a few days after John O’Keefe died. If convicted, Read faces life in prison.
