🌅 STARTING FROM PUNE
We begin our journey early in the morning from Pune. The first major stretch is from Pune to Solapur, which is about 250 km. You will pass through Hadapsar, Loni, Yavat, Bhigwan, Indapur, and Tembhurni. The road is mostly 4-lane and in very good condition, especially from Pune to Tembhurni.
✅ Bhigwan is famous for birdwatching, especially during winter months when flamingos and migratory birds gather near the backwaters. It’s a peaceful stop for nature lovers.
🍽️ Indapur and Tembhurni are ideal for a breakfast break. Highway dhabas and fuel stations are available.
🕌 REACHING SOLAPUR
After about 4.5 to 5 hours of driving, you’ll reach Solapur – a major city and an important stop. This is a good place to refuel your car, have lunch, or even take a short detour.
🙏 If time permits, visit the Siddheshwar Temple, a beautiful spot by the lake in Solapur. The city is well-connected with hotels, food courts, and service stations.
🏰 HISTORIC STOP – NALDURG FORT
As you drive ahead toward Omerga, you have the option to make a short detour (approx. 20 km) to visit Naldurg Fort. This fort is built along the banks of the Bori river and is one of the largest in Maharashtra. The massive stone walls, arched gateways, and the moat make it a great spot for photography and history lovers.
📸 Include Naldurg Fort in your trip if you have an extra hour to spare. It adds a cultural and historical flavor to your highway experience.
🚧 OMERGA TO HUMNABAD STRETCH
After Solapur and Naldurg, you’ll cross into Karnataka. This stretch—Omerga to Humnabad—is around 110 km and is a mix of smooth patches and some rough stretches. Watch out for:
Minor road repairs
Diversions, especially near Omerga
Speed breakers and village crossings
Still, it’s scenic with rural views, green fields, and light traffic. Perfect for slow-paced driving.
🛣️ ZAHEERABAD TO HYDERABAD – BEST STRETCH!
From Zaheerabad, you officially enter Telangana. The next 130 km till Hyderabad is the best part of the drive.
6-lane expressway
Very smooth roads, well-marked lanes
Less congestion
Ideal for cruise control
You’ll drive through towns like Sangareddy and Patancheru as you approach Hyderabad. Stick to the speed limits—this stretch has speed cameras and patrolling vehicles.
