Night Radian assemble (not build!), radio settings and a short demo flight

Описание к видео Night Radian assemble (not build!), radio settings and a short demo flight

In this video the Night Radian is put together, radio set up explained in detail, and a short flight video at the end.

I did not state this in the video, but I think the Night Radian would make a good first or second RC airplane. It flies slow, has very limited roll authority, and is big enough to fly off a while before loss-of-sight. In Safe you would have to fly it into something or really botch a landing to do much damage. No landing gear is also a plus for a beginner. It's all ideal for beginner pilot building muscle memory relative to aircraft orientation!

Assembly is dead simple too. Insert the horizontal stabilizer, tape it on, insert the wings, put in two screws, fasten the elevator clevis and it's done. Given the only battery location if you use the recommended 2200 3S weight and balance are automatic.

Bind the receiver, set up Safe/AS3X, and add a few extras like rates and ESC voltage telemetry and you are ready to go fly. That and assembly took all of 30 minutes. But, I have a lot of NX 8 setup experience.

I had only three minor issues. The tape supplied for the tail is too flimsy. I used clear packaging tape. The wing connections to the light system power supply is not great. I plugged in a short Y-connector cable into the power supply and plug the wing wires into the Y. I also taped the tail wire connector down.

The plane flies great. But, if you want really smooth power-off gliding turn the gyros off. The tail wags around in Safe/AS3X modes as the rudder tries to correct for turbulence-induced roll.

You can get a Night Radian at Horizon (but out of stock at the moment):
