Last Fall we had an opportunity to shoot an Indian engagement party. As we learned, in Indian culture, the engagement ceremony is known as the Sagai or Sagan ceremony. It's an important pre-wedding event that marks the official announcement of the couple's engagement to their families and friends. The ceremony is a joyous occasion that involves a number of traditional rituals and customs.

One of the most important rituals is the exchange of rings, which symbolizes the couple's commitment to each other. The rings are usually made of gold, and are blessed by a priest before being exchanged between the couple. This exchange is often accompanied by the singing of traditional songs and the offering of sweets and other gifts.

Another important tradition is the giving of gifts to the bride and groom, often in the form of jewelry or other items of value. This is a sign of the families' approval and support of the couple's union.
