This is how the WCW Title got retired. In October 2001, Steve Austin beat Kurt Angle to win the WWE Title. A month later, The Rock beat Chris Jericho to win the WCW Title. At Survivor Series, both Angle and Austin were part of Team Alliance. With the ref knocked down, Angle betrayed Austin and The Rock hit him with the Rock Bottom to win the match. On Raw, Vince wanted to strip Austin of the title and give it to Angle. Ric Flair returned after 8 years, told Vince he’s a co-owner now and gave the title back to Austin. Vince and Flair created a four-man tournament to unify the two world titles and at Vengeance, Angle faced Austin for the WWE Title. Austin hit Angle with the stunner to retain the title. Jericho faced The Rock for the WCW Title. The ref was distracted, Jericho hit The Rock with a low blow and with the Rock Bottom to win the title. Then Austin came out for their unification match. Flair punched the ref, Vince punched him and Austin took him out. Austin tapped out Jericho but no ref. Booker T hit Austin with the title and Jericho pinned him to become the undisputed champion, thus retiring the WCW Title.
