In 2020, Illuminated Films produced another animated commercial, using computer assisted animation compositing and special effects software TV Paint, for the heritage and lifestyle brand Barbour as part of their Christmas campaign.

Inspired by the Raymond Briggs book and iconic 1991 animated special Father Christmas, the film follows Father Christmas and a very special family, in a tale that was also inspired by a true customer story.

In this heart-warming adventure, a young boy writes to the grumpy but loveable Father Christmas to say he doesn’t want a present this year but instead needs help repairing his father’s Barbour jacket in time for Christmas. Their cherished but mischievous family dog had chewed the jacket, rendering it damaged.

Father Christmas decides he cannot mend the jacket himself but has the bright idea of taking it to Barbour’s South Shields factory, where the factory workers have been repairing and re-waxing old Barbour jackets for almost a hundred years.

This Father Christmas character continues to be used by licensors and represents a classic British brand and humour.

The film is based on Raymond Briggs' books named Father Christmas and Father Christmas Goes On Holiday. In the film, after a hard day's work, Father Christmas returns home and decides to go on a vacation. He converts his sledge into a caravan and travels around the world before finally coming back to deliver gifts.

Illuminated Films are the international distributors of Father Christmas on behalf of the copyright owners Blooming Productions. The Copyright Group manage the licensing opportunities for the brand.
