The rules of banking just changed overnight. In a massive December 2025 update, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) rescinded the 2013 Leveraged Lending Guidance and officially authorized national banks to act as brokers for crypto assets.

In this episode, we break down the three major regulatory bombshells that dropped this week:

Leveraged Lending: The hard limits on corporate debt ratios are gone. Banks can now determine their own risk appetite.

Crypto "Riskless Principals": National banks can now buy and sell crypto for customers, effectively entering the digital asset market.

Venture Lending: New guidance encourages banks to lend to startups, even those burning cash.

Why is the OCC removing these guardrails?
