Saudi Arabia recalls ambassador from Sweden amid diplomatic row

Saudi Arabia has recalled its ambassador from Stockholm amid a diplomatic row over Sweden's criticism of Riyadh's human rights record.

The move was prompted by remarks by Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom, which the Saudis said 'amounted to an interference in its internal affairs'.

Wallstrom has previously called Saudi Arabia a dictatorship and denounced its treatment of women and the flogging of human rights activist Raif Badawi.
