Origin of the village name :

When the daughter-in-law of Chand Soudagar, Behula, was taking her dead husband, Lakhindar, in a vella (boat); the doctors of the village attempted to cure Lakhindar, but they failed. The doctors were called 'Baidya' in the local language,
so the village was named Baidyapur.
Baidyapur is also known for Jamindarbari of Nandi's. you can find Jamindarbari, kacharibari, puja bari and also a beautiful baithakkhana in baidyapur.
Baidyapur Jora Deul was built in 1550 by Subhananda Pal. However, the temple seems to have lost its shape and was probably rebuilt at a later date.
According to the List of Monuments of National Importance in W
est Bengal the two ancient temples (joined together) at Baidyapur is an ASI listed monument.
