Welcome back everyone — today we’re heading straight into the heart of Isle of Dogs for another session at Millwall Inner Dock, one of my favourite places in London for perch fishing. There’s something magical about this spot: calm water, city reflections, and those beautifully coloured perch hiding right on the edge.
I started the session on my own with a simple but genuinely effective drop shot setup:
– 7 g weight
– Worms on the hook
– One or two maggots for extra scent and movement
– And a little handful of loose maggots dropped right at the bank
This place is full of zebra mussels, and the perch love feeding tight to the wall, so placing the bait directly next to the bank really makes a difference. It’s not a magic trick, but it definitely increases your chances of getting a solid bite.
A bit later, Mischo joined me — and when he steps on the bank, I already know it’s going to be fun.
We always have this small, friendly competition between us… and yes, he beat me again! 😂
He landed an absolutely beautiful perch with insane colours, and seeing that fish up close honestly made me happy — and a bit jealous in a good way. Fishing with Mischo is pure joy: good laughs, natural smiles, and always something to learn.
As the evening came in, the perch slowed down completely, so we took a short break in our favourite Korean bistro. After that, we had a quick try for Zander with lures, but they didn’t want to play this time. That’s fishing — sometimes you win, sometimes the fish win.
Still, it was a day full of positive moments, great conversations, and proper friendship on the bank.
Mischo — always a pleasure to fish with you, mate.
