It's known that donated blood cells can survive for up to 42 days stored at cold temperatures. We wanted to find out how long fresh blood can survive on a microscope slide at room temperature. We kept looking at the same blood sample for many days in order to see how it would change and how long it would live.
You will see the best areas of the blood in a 20 day period.
Day one shows a healthy blood sample with an immune system cell.
After day three the last immune system cell dies and we are not able to find any more of these cells through the test.
Day five shows a few blood cells starting to burst and break down, but the biggest change is that there is more activity in the blood plasma.

You will also notice that after day seven the cells have a more dull color and are not as clear as before.
At the start of day ten, the cells begin bursting more frequently and we are down to about 50% of functioning cells.
This continues to go down. As there was little movement in the cells, we performed a pressure test to see if they would actually start moving. The cells did start to move and still bounced off each other, showing that they were still holding their negative electric charge and that there was still life force within them.

As the days went by, the cells became thinner and weaker, and at day twenty, the last cells were gone.

This test was made and belongs to Kim Uvberget at Ulvberget Green-Life.
It was done to document how long fresh human blood would be able to survive outside the body, surviving only by itself. No nutrition or other substances were added to the blood. The blood slide was stored under the microscope. When performing this test we placed a capillary blood drop between two glass slides.
