The bible says the Pharaoh was Ramesses, but how long after the Exodus event was the story written down, Was the term Pharaoh & Ramesses, one and the same. Merneptah was the first king of Egypt to be described as Pharaoh - maybe the Israelites misunderstood the name Ramesses and Pharaoh as meaning 'Great House'.
