I just got the new Sony FX30 and I want to share with you how I use the Cine EI mode.
With this mode enabled, we can change now the ratio between the highlights and the shadows recorded. Classically, when shooting LOG, the camera will perform at its best at the base ISO, but with CINE EI, we can choose various exposure indexes to optimize the dynamic range captured to our liking. This process is very straight forward if you pay attention to the on screen info, that will show you how many stops you can capture above middle grey for the selected iso and ei . Just remember to modify the aperture or the nd filtration with the same amount and you're golden!
