Perfect for cutting boards
Mineral oil is mineral oil is mineral oil. The name is somewhat imprecise since "mineral" oil is a distillate from crude petroleum. While mineral oil does come in various different thicknesses, for all intents and purposes in woodworking applications, it is essentially the same thing no matter the brand name. "Baby oil", selling for 10 times the money, is just a "perfumed" version of that very mineral oil. All "special" butcher block oils sold under various brand names claiming proprietary "formulas" and superior performance are, very likely, all the exact same mineral oil purchased in bulk and repackaged. There are only a few manufacturers of mineral oil and hundreds of brand names that sell the product. This particular one is as good as any and perfectly suitable for cutting boards, butcher blocks, wooden salad bowls, etc. It is, like all mineral oils, odorless, FDA-approved, clear and easy to apply. Just wipe it on, wait 10-15 minutes, wipe off and buff if needed. I've been using this one for cutting boards I occasionally make in my workshop because it is the best "value for money".
