The indicated time in the video is from 11:53-11:54. The owner of this clock drove halfway across the state of Florida to Pensacola, to find Gulf Coast Clock Co to be the only shop willing to tackle such a clock repair. We had peers recommend to just give it back un-retrofitted, to save our troubles; we even had electricians tell us that only thousands of dollars of switching equipment could make it work. I guess they were all wrong....The clock was made to run @ 50 Hz originally, and even had a European electrical plug. The owner was seeking to modify this clock to keep accurate time on the American grid, @ 60 Hz. Basically the phase shift allowed for 10 seconds to gain every minute, with the original Argentine motor. There are no problems in clockmaking that cannot be fixed, especially this project. With a retrofitted Synchron American motor, and a new pickup arm, the clock keeps accurate time infinitely, unless the electrical grid changes phase, which has remained the same for most of a century. I am not sure why no other clock shop could/would do this, but thanks to a little hard work and a lot of ingenuity, Mr. O has a working clock, made as a novelty, now keeping standard time. The clock has been sent back to Ocala, where it will provide years of enjoyment, and let the good times roll!
