From 1988 to 1992, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line built some of the most iconic cruise ships in their fleet; including the Sovereign of the Seas (later, "Soverign" by Pullmantur), the Monarch of the Seas (later, "Monarch" also by Pullmantur), and the Majesty of the Seas (which, including the Empress of the Seas - formerly the Nordic Prince - on December 16, 2020 has been sold to an undisclosed buyer in the Asia Pacific region). They were the start that solidified the brand's image as we know it today. Two out of three of them are in the middle of being scrapped in Aliaga, Turkey as we speak.

This video shares the story of these ships from beginning to end; how they made a cultural impact and innovated the Royal Caribbean brand as well as cruise design forever.

Have you sailed aboard any of these ships?
Did you have a good time?
Are you sad to see them go?
Do you have any fond memories you'd like to share?
Do you think it's unfair that their lives were cut short and that their time was up just a little too soon?

Let me know in the comments below.

**CORRECTION: Misspelled first female captain of Monarch of the Seas. It is proper spelled, "Karin Stahre-Janson"
