Comparison of a 1994 FZJ80 and a 1995 FZJ80
Both have the updated 1FZ-FE engine inline 6 which has is a 24 valve 212 hp and 275ft lbs torque, A nice step uo from rhe 1991-1992 3FE engine that was in the FJ62. which had 155hp and 220 torque.
However there are some differences between the two.
For instance, the Redesigned dash in the 1995 now adoptwd airbags as standard equipment.
The cats changed from side by side catalytic converters to in-line converters. The exhaust also routes below the frame rail just behind the catalytic converters to avoid excessive heat on the passenger floor-boards.

The front grill had the word TOYOTA written across the front in 1994 and changed to the new Toyota symbol.
You can't swap headlights as the mounts are different from 1991-1994 vs 1995-1997.

That notorious droopy headliner changed to two piece molded units in 1995
Emission system on engine went from a Mass Air Pressure meter to a Mass Air Flow meter. Certain plumbing was also removed as shown in the video.
Supercharger & Turbo systems available for 1995-1997 models but good luck finding one. The turbo would boost HP from 213 to 300hp, but also shorten engine life... in my book, not worth it. At sea level I have not regeared and it drives great, cruises at 80mph.
ECU updates and truck became voluntary OBD-II compatible. Fully compatible OBDII IN 1996 models AND UP
Wheel Lug nuts change from conical to washer type.
Transmission changes from the A442f to the A343F halfway in 1995, some 95's were produced with the A442F. The debate continues which is better. they are both robust.
Radiator is a 2 row aluminum.
Both years are great. Bottom line is if you can get your hands on a clean FZJ80, then thats the right one!
