Street and art sport are the two religions of Melbourne, so what happens when Australia's biggest sports stars, (quite literally), team up with one of Australia's most talented street artists to create an icon?

This is Melbourne in the Paint, the making of Melbourne's newest street art masterpiece by artist Sofles and with special help from Dvate, Ben Simmons, Andrew Bogut, Thon Maker, Matthew Dellavedova, Liz Cambage, Lauren Jackson, Andrew Gaze, Chris Goulding and Mitch Mccarron.

The final work stands a towering 18m (or four stories) high at Gate 7 of Marvel Stadium in Melbourne's Docklands precinct, the site of the historic two game series between the Australian Boomers and USA Basketball. The work comes complete with a fully functional street court available to the public and includes four hot spots where Boomers and USA Basketball stars have literally stood and made a shot.

If you've ever wanted to stand in the shoes of your basketball heroes and see if you can do what they do well then now is your chance.... literally.

The work and court is truly a sight to see.

After months of consultation, planning and presenting concepts, it took Sofles 11 days and nights to finish the work. From sketching our his design on the wall, to putting the final touches on the wall literally hours before the schedule unveiling of the artwork, this film documents the making of Melbourne's newest icon.
