Austin Thomas, associate lecturer at Edge Hill University and Chief Nurse at London 2012 Paralympics games, shared his story of his involvement in a near fatal accident and the subsequent care he received.

Healthcare students, practice educators and academics from across the UK joined together in Cardiff for ‘Small Changes, Big Impact’ – the annual IHI Open School (UK) Conference

Over 200 people attended the event that underlined the significant progress which has been made to teach quality and service improvement within universities across the nations.

The two days highlighted the simple improvements made by students that have resulted in a great impact on the care provided to patients. A packed programme saw recognised experts in quality improvement, systems engineering, patient safety, human factors and team leadership.
