Importance of Pearl Millet Crop:
Pearl Millet (Bajra) is a kharif crop which is grown for green fodder purpose and for grains purpose as well. it is also known as poor man food. Its green fodder is liked by animals and grains are liked by birds. 500 to 700 green fodder and 12-15 monds grains per acre can be produced by this bajra crop.

Seedrate: 5-6 kg per acre for fodder purpose
3-4 kg per acre for grain purpose
Sowing time: March to May for fodder purpose
July sowing for grains or seed purpose
Sowing Method: Broadcast and drill
Fertilizers: 1 bag DAP and half bag SOP at land preparation time
Half bag Urea with first irrigation
1 bag Urea after each cutting
Irrigation: First irrigation after 18-20 days after sowing
Harvesting: Cuttings can be performed 70 days after sowing when 50% crop has spikes on their head. For grains purpose, spikes ripe 90-100 days after sowing.
