Whew! Alright, first things first. This video is me playing this 2-player game solo. I'm using both controllers at once to control the two characters on screen separately. Seeing that the game requires you to be perfect except for three misses it may look easy, but it isn't! Well, at least at first. And you have to become "one with the groove". You'll be able to see the entire story of Bossa and Nova in the background as I play this. You need to reach well over 1000 bounces to complete it!

Some pointers:

The first thing to get over is which controller controls who. I usually position the controller on the right for the right character, and left for the left. Unfortunately, the cloud will flip the characters around and thinking strictly on that basis can destroy you. I had considered tossing the controller from hand to hand but that didn't turn out to be the best of ideas. Instead, I recommend focusing on the guy/gal on the right and those button presses. The beats on left should kinda just happen. How do you keep track of which button to press on a switch? I didn't think too hard on the logistics, but a trick I would use is that the LAST button you pressed on a beat before the switch (which would be the character on the left) will follow up for the next hit on the right. And again, I didn't think too hard on it. I would just use that as a background indicator in my mind on how to continue the beat.

After you get into the flow of it, your greatest enemy is your miiiind~ All the small things will start creeping at you to throw you off. So, try not to think about that itch, or how you need to swallow, or your feet. Just keep your mind on the beat!

You can actually simulate a game if you like, by watching this. Tap your fingers on your legs! It STARTS with left being P1 on the left, and right being P2 on the right. But it switches! You won't get any failure indicators, but you can probably simulate those too, right~? Maybe you'll get an idea of how tricky this was!

Feel the beat! It's Rhythm Heaven Fever! This game is like a musically inclined Wario Ware! Heck, the same guys who made that series worked on this one. Speaking of series, this is the third in the Rhythm Heaven series, but only the second one out of Japan. We got Rhythm Heaven on the DS first, but before that, Japan had... Rhythm Tengoku on the Game Boy Advance.

This game keeps the controls simple with "A" being the major input along with A AND B at the same time for special occasions. You'll be pressing these buttons to follow the beat in-game in many wild and varied circumstances alongside music that's incredibly upbeat! Did I mention I like these games yet?

I like these games!

There are lots of fun little secrets and flourishes that are tricky to keep an eye on when you're playing it, so this'll be a fun one to watch at leisure. In 60 frames per second too! I hope you'll join me in our trip through Rhythm Heaven!

A couple technical notes:

This is being played on a Nintendo Wii U, a system backwards-compatible with Wii discs. The Wii U has the same hardware built-in as the Wii. The Wii U will automatically upscale your Wii games based on your selected resolution and output via HDMI in Progressive Scan for a clean image.
