While conversations about mental health have increased in recent years, there is much about the process of treatment and diagnosis that is challenging for an individual struggling to get help. In this talk, Varun shares his experience with mental health recovery utilizing dialectical behavior therapy techniques as well as reframing of his perspective on mental health and redefining his understanding of what a successful mental health recovery looks like. Varun Joshi is a data science student at Georgia State University who is passionate about mental health, research, and programming. He aims to bring his passions together by developing an app to help those suffering from bipolar disorder by drawing on both clinical research as well as his own lived experience with bipolar II. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
