How I moved 200 Houseplants Part 2 is here! If you missed my part 1, check my previous video and I can link it here for you too! In this video I talk about tips and tricks I learned about my moving process with houseplants and things I wished I had gone about differently. It was a lot of work for sure and here's some more information to consolidate what I talked about with moving 200 houseplants!

Part 1 moving with plants video:
   • How I'm MOVING with 200 Houseplants! ...

Tips:
1. Start prepping your plants before the moving day. I actually had all of the packing supplies with me so I'm glad I didn't have to run out anywhere to get more stuff, but I wished I started packing them up at least a day sooner! It would have saved me so much time on the actual moving day to not have to pack up so many houseplants at once.

2. Inspect your plants weeks in advanced. I did take the time to inspect my plants prior to moving way ahead of time. It gave me peace of mind knowing I wasn't spreading any pests around since a lot of my plants would be touching each other and be so close together. I would start planning a few weeks in advance and get to them as you water plants in your normal routine and treat any pests right away.

3. Get rid of plants that don't bring you joy. I didn't have the time to sell any plants or get rid of any before moving with everything else going on with packing the home. But it will be easier to pack to get rid of multiples of the same plant or sell or get rid of ones that you don't want anymore. It will save time and also leave you with a collection you really care about! I would start this way in advance!

4. I would move plants towards the evening or overnight depending on how far you have to go. Keep in mind the temperature because of a lot of tropical plants don't like temps below 50 degrees and you may have to pack them like you would ship a plant. Also, if the sunlight is really bright during the day and your vehicle has windows, the sun could shine through and burn your plant leaves if they aren't covered so definitely something to think about!

5. Renting a Uhaul was the best option for me so I could pack my tall moss poles and all of my plants at once so I didn't have to take multiple trips. It was definitely the easier option for me!

6. Using plastic bins was really helpful and anything you already have around your home. Start saving odd boxes early and anything you think might be helpful as far as packing supplies go. I did go and buy some extra large cardboard boxes to pack some bigger plants and I purchased a large tote bin for my greenhouse plants that were kept in high humidity.

7. Watering plants before you package them or giving them a little extra on top will help spillage of dirt in the truck and also will give your plants water so you don't have to worry about watering them after moving. There's a lot of other stuff to do and you really don't want to have to think about watering right after moving and when you don't really have anywhere for them to go!

8. I would use packing rope and to secure any tall poles and also to help secure loose boxes in the truck. It gave me more peace of mind knowing they were more secure!

9. Also, make sure to bring your supplies with you! You don't want all of your plant stuff to be lost among all of your other boxes! I made sure to pack those up separately so I would have anything I needed right away. Most importantly would be your grow lights, humidifiers, fertilizer and anything else you use on a daily basis with your plants!

10. Make sure to give your more sensitive plants the best environment after you unload them! That means humid conditions for a lot of mine so I'm lucky to have had that but definitely something to keep in mind to help them acclimate!

11. Any propagations in water I would put in a damp paper towel and a plastic ziplock bag to secure them for a few days. Any other propagations or small plants I would put in a enclosed plastic tote bin!

12. Make sure your plants are getting enough light after you move and don't keep them in the dark for too long. They are going to have yellowing leaves and some plants may have a harder time acclimating. Try not to repot right away or make too many changes with their care and make sure to water any that needs water but let them adjust!
