Petroleum jelly has many uses and benefits. Here are six of my favourites:

✅For under eye wrinkling and dryness
▪️Use an eye cream and seal it with petroleum jelly for longer lasting occlusion
▪️this will make your under eye area brighter and wrinkles less prominent
▪️do not do this over a retinol based eye cream as it can cause irritation
▪️Do not do it if you have recurrent milia in under eye

✅If you get a cut or a scratch , clean the area and apply petroleum jelly to form an occlusion
▪️This creates a moist environment for wound to heal early
▪️wound always heals faster in a moist environment
▪️do not do this if the wound is infected . Then antibiotics are required

✅If you have dry flaking eyelids, apply this twice a day
▪️flaky eyelids are common in people with dry skin or those with atopic dermatitis.
▪️As many creams do not suit the area around the eyes, plain petrolatum is a good option in this area

✅use it over a lip balm for longer lasting hydration
▪️petroleum jelly on its own may not work if you have very dry flaky lips as you need emollient along with occlusive
▪️petroleum jelly is an occlusive so first apply a layer of lip balm and then occlude it with petroleum jelly
▪️this will act like a night sleeping mask.
▪️Avoid it if you get acne or comedones around the lip area or lip margins

✅Darkness on sides of mouth due to drooling
▪️apply a liberal quality of petroleum jelly before sleeping
▪️even if you have accumulation of saliva on corners of mouth while speaking, using a little bit of Vaseline helps in protecting this area.

✅Flaking on sides of nose due to irritation to active ingredients or retinol ?
▪️Use Vaseline jelly for protection
▪️can use used twice a day or only at night before retinol
▪️can also do this beige using any home based peels to avoid irritation in this area
▪️if you have history or dryness and falling in nose, whenever you try a new product on the face, occlude this area with Vaseline jelly to avoid irritation.
